Der Wein

The 2012 vintage of Louis Roederer's Cristal Champagne proved to be one of the most challenging and complex in the history of Champagne. Despite difficult weather conditions and low yields leading to unusual ripeness, it revealed a rich, full-bodied, and structured wine that ranks among the great vintages of Champagne. Cristal, the prestige cuvée of the house, created in 1876 and composed of Grands Crus from the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne, and the Côte des Blancs, is distinguished by its depth and the lively balance of chalky freshness. This freshness cuts through and stretches the wine, giving it a slender shape and great finesse.

Das Weingut

The Champagne house Louis Roederer, founded by Louis Roederer in 1833, is one of the last great independent and family-run Champagne houses. With a vision for outstanding quality, Roederer personally managed his vineyards in the finest locations of Champagne and established a unique style and character of the wine through strategic purchases of Grand Cru vineyards and a profound knowledge of each parcel. Today, the house is led by Frédéric Rouzaud, the seventh generation of the family, continuing to be driven by a passion for tradition and innovation.
